Arriving in Singapore.
I took this trolley to do some sightseeing in Singapore.
The first place I wanted to go was the Raffles, a colonial style hotel dating from 1887. I had heard about this hotel for years.
Having my photo before I go inside.
Waling into the front part of this beautiful hotel.
The gardens were exquisite. Everything was so clean.
You could lounge and eat outside underneath the beautiful gazebo surrounded by gorgeous palms. But you would have to either be a millionaire to stay here, or win the lottery. It's very expensive!
This shows part of the hotel and the beautiful fountain out front.
The Long Bar is the place I wanted to visit the most.
The Long Bar is home of the Singapore Sling. It's a two story bar that was inspired by Malayan plantations in the 1920's.
This shows another view of the bar.
I met up with some other people that were on this tour. We all had to have a Singapore Sling!
And this is the famous Singapore Sling. Delicious!
This is called the Writer's Bar and is so rich in history. It was named after many of the writers that stayed in the hotel such as Noel Coward, Somerset Maugham, and Rudyard Kipling.
One of the many workers keeping the gazebo clean.
This guy was cutting out some of the dead palm fronds.
They used bamboo for scaffolding. Amazing.
After spending some time in the hotel, I decided to do some shopping! NOT!
This has to be the cleanest city I have ever been in. In fact, there were signs saying No Chewing Allowed! Wow.
I didn't see any trash anywhere!
Not only is Singapore clean, it is really a beautiful city.
Even the bus stops were interesting. The signs would light up when a certain bus was coming.
There were beautiful arches over some of the streets.
Not only were the arches beautiful, but the architecture of some of the buildings was incredible.
I am on Orchard Road which is the main shopping district of Singapore. It has the largest concentration of shopping malls in the world.
Besides going to the Raffle Hotel, I walked until I found the Hard Rock. Gotta get some shirts from Singapore Hard Rock.
A pose before going in.
Gifts from Raffles, now some from Hard Rock.
All Hard Rock Cafes look the same inside.
Getting ready to get in this cable car to go up to Sentosa Island.
This was quite a ride, and very high!
Going over the top of a cruise ship.
Coming to Sentosa Island and overlooking the port of Singapore, one of the largest in the world.
I made it to Imbah Lookout, home of the Guardian of Lung Ya Men.
This explains about the Dragon Teeth Gate.
This is the dragon that protected the harbor of Singapore.
I chatted with these guys before getting their picture in front of the huge dragon.
The dragon was actually a water fountain.
Taking a ride on the pedicab.
Looking from Mt. Fabor on Sentosa Island over to the Carlberg Sky Tower, Asia's tallest observatory.
Going back over the top of the cruise ship.
This was the pier for all of the pilot boats.
One last look over the Singapore harbor.
