This is the street our hotel is on.

My parents had taken me to Paris when I was 11, and we stayed in this hotel. When I took my daughter, Erica, we stayed in the same place.
|

This was the window to our room. The hotel is run by a French family, and although the hotel is small, all the rooms are very clean and comfortable.
|

This is my daughter Erica hanging out in the window listening to all the different noises you can hear on these small streets.

I love the European breakfasts. They serve the most wonderful and flaky croissants with the best tasting hot chocolate you've ever had.
|

If you want breakfast in your room, it will look like this. My mouth waters just thinking about the bread.

This is a photo of my mom and sister, Rosie, walking down the little street after leaving our little hotel.

This is my daughter and me in front of the Place de la Madeleine, the church know for the big columns in front. You can see the columns in the previous photo.

After spending time visiting the church, we went on to the Paris Opera house. We liked being able to see the private boxes that the rich and famous got to use during the opera performances.

I had to take a photo of this sign at the bus stop because my dad's name was Sidney, and he loved Paris.

This man was on his way home after work. I guess the wife told him to bring a loaf of bread. I bought a loaf and it is so good.

After we figured it out, taking the metro was fairly simple, and it was a great and fast way to get around.

Poor Erica was so tired from all our walking today.

After a good rest, we headed over to the Eiffel Tower.
|

Close to the Eiffel Tower was this wonderful double decker merry-go-round.

We are riding the cable car on our way up to the top. It was only a bit scary.

This is what the inside of the Eiffel Tower looks. We were going down and another cable car was going up.

There are artists everywhere. These were on the steps going down to the Seine River.

Erica and I decided to take a boat tour along the Seine.

In the summer there are a lot of people sitting on the banks of the river.

We walked over to the Trocadero Gardens and got this pretty view looking back at the Eiffel Tower.

And who is this young lady? It's ME! My fist visit to the Eiffel Tower was when I was eleven.

And MANY years later, I was there with my daughter.

This is the Place de la Concorde, one of the major public squares in Paris. The ferris wheel is called the La Grande Roue, and is another great way to see Paris. It was a great ride!

Here we are at the Louvre, the world's largest palace and museum. The glass pyramid is in stark contrast to the Louvre. It holds shops and restaurants.

She is standing next to Venus de Milo, an ancient Greek statue, and one of the most famous works of Greek sculpture. It is believed to be Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.

Everyone wants to see the Mona Lisa, a famous 16th century portrait by Leonardo da Vinci. It's her mysterious smile that has been the talk over generations. No matter where you stand, her eyes follow you.

This is looking down one of the MANY hallways of the Louvre. You would need days to really see most of the museum.

The Winged Victory, discovered in 1863, is estimated to have been created in 190 B.C. It was created to honor the goddess Nike, and to honor a sea battle. An earthquake is said to be the cause of the damage. The statue was a favorite of Frank Lloyd Wright.

There is a dungeon in the basement, and it's really creepy. One of the displays was this device called "The Rack." Wouldn't that be a horrible way to die!

The Avenue Des Champs Elysees is the most famous street in the world, and where the rich and famous like to shop and dine. It remains the most expensive piece of real estate in Europe.

I'm standing at the center of Place Charles DeGaule, at the west end of the Champs Elysees. Behind me is the famous Arc de Triomphe. The arch honors those who fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. Underneath is the tomb of the unknown soldier from WWI.

It was summer when Erica and I visited the Arch of Triumph. Once again, she had her photo taken with one of the guards.

We ate here A LOT! For one thing, it was one of the only places we could get ice in our soda. The other reason was that it was cheap!

One of our last stops was at the Cathedral of Notre Dame. It's always been the religious center of Paris. It isn't the largest cathedral in the world, but it might be the most famous. It is also known for the beautiful circular Rose Window.
