I've mentioned several times that it doesn't matter what country you go to, you will always see a Coke sign.Sep 18, 2010

This one was so pretty I wondered if it was ever used.Sep 18, 2010

Either he just let a customer off, or he is going to get one. Very unique taxi.Sep 18, 2010
MAN038 001.jpg
There were many stands around like this where you could get a bit to eat. But not me!Sep 18, 2010
MAN037 001.jpg
This was one of the prettier carts that I saw.Sep 18, 2010
MAN036 001.jpg
We stopped at a mall, but I wasn't really interested in spending much time there. I preferred to ride around to get a feel for the city.Sep 18, 2010
MAN035 001.jpg
Our bus got up close so that I could take this picture of some of our group riding in the jeepney.Sep 18, 2010
MAN034 001.jpg
This bus on the right is called a Jeepney, and they are very popular with the tourists.Sep 18, 2010
MAN033 001.jpg
Some people had a great time in these pedi-cabs.Sep 18, 2010
MAN031 001.jpg
A few took a ride like this.Sep 18, 2010
MAN030 001.jpg
This was an unscheduled day, so many people just went for a walk. Some took a taxi to look around.Sep 18, 2010
MAN029 001.jpg
It DID feel good to have my feet on solid ground!Sep 18, 2010
MAN028 001.jpg
I'm thinking this guy wished he was still in bed!Sep 18, 2010
MAN027 001.jpg
It seemed like out of nowhere, there was this little band to greet us.Sep 18, 2010
MAN026 001.jpg
Some of the people waiting by the ship were family members. Some of the crew finished their rotation, and were being picked up by their family.Sep 18, 2010
MAN024 001.jpg
This is the captain guiding us next to the pier.Sep 18, 2010
MAN023 001.jpg
Manilla is in the background as we head into port.Sep 18, 2010
MAN022 001.jpg
Now we are beginning to see the water villages. The are all on stilts.Sep 18, 2010
MAN021 001.jpg
Especially those of you who have cruised, you will recognize this boat as the pilot boat. The captain does not take the ship into the harbor. The Filipino pilot does this. The same thing happens in reverse. The pilot will guide the ship out of the harbor, get back on his little tug, and the ship's captain once again takes over. It's fun to watch.Sep 18, 2010
MAN020 001.jpg
All of a sudden, it seems like there were hundreds of these little fishing boats around us.Sep 18, 2010
MAN019 001.jpg
Land ho!!! The Philippines are coming into view.Sep 18, 2010
MAN018 001.jpg
It was funny, the next morning it was pretty much the same people from last night that were out of the deck. The captain came out, and we told him "thanks for the E-ticket ride." He was such a nice guy. He even put his cap on my head for the picture. BTW....you know that nice hair-do I had earlier? GONE!Sep 18, 2010
MAN017 001.jpg
I knew I had bounced around a lot the night before, but it wasn't until the next day I saw the bruise I got.Sep 18, 2010
MAN016 001.jpg
Even with the net over the pool, look how high the water was going up.Sep 18, 2010
MAN015 001.jpg
The crew covered up the swimming pools to keep the water from flying out everywhere.Sep 18, 2010
MAN014 001.jpg
The bags were on all of the staircases.Sep 18, 2010
MAN013 001.jpg
See the pretty plant with the BARF BAG in the middle of it! Not only were most of the passengers sick, a lot of staff was, too. Since I stayed outside most of the time, I think that had something to do with the fact that I DIDN'T get sick. I drank in that fresh air.Sep 18, 2010
MAN012 001.jpg
It's finally morning, and we were allowed to go back outside if we wanted to. I leaned over to get a shot when we hit this huge wave. I'm glad I had my camera strap around my neck!Sep 18, 2010
MAN011 001.jpg
This was a sad sight. The land form in the distance is Vietnam. We were supposed to go there, but due to the high winds, the ship couldn't get into the port. There were so many Vietnam vets aboard, and it had taken many of them all of these years to want to go back for a visit. Now they couldn't!Sep 18, 2010
MAN010 001.jpg
Eventually they closed the doors so no one could go outside. Bummer!Sep 18, 2010
MAN009 001.jpg
This guy was hilarious. The wind was just holding him up like this! Unbelievable.Sep 18, 2010
MAN008 001.jpg
Whoa! He was right. That was quite a tilt the ship made. Out of all the passengers, there were about 20 of us brave souls that spent several hours up on that deck. I actually thought it was fun.Sep 18, 2010
MAN007 001.jpg
Remember I said that things were going smoothly? Well, at 3:00 am, the captain came over the loud speaker and told all of the passengers that a cyclone was heading our way, and he was going to have to turn the ship immediately. He didn't want us to be alarmed if the ship leaned over QUITE A BIT! My cabin was the last place I wanted to be, so I barreled it for the top deck.Sep 18, 2010
MAN006 001.jpg
I looked so dang good, I decided to dress up for dinner. This is one of my table mates.Sep 18, 2010

MAN003 001.jpg
I was sitting in the lounge one day when this gal, who works in the beauty shop on the ship, stopped and asked me if I would be willing to be in her show later on that day. She was showing ladies different ways to fix your hair. I said sure. Here she is starting on my hair.Sep 18, 2010
MAN002 001.jpg
Things were going smoothly. I would relax out on the deck during the day.Sep 18, 2010
MAN001 001.jpg
I am taking a trip across the South China Sea, and this is the small ship that I am on.Sep 18, 2010

ALA045 001.jpg
It's time to pack up the luggage, and put it outside the door to be picked up. I had bought so many fun souvenirs and Christmas presents for the grand kids that I had to buy an little extra bag. =)Sep 18, 2010
ALA044 001.jpg
This shot was taken from the museum overlooking the town with the ship in the background.Sep 18, 2010
ALA043 001.jpg
I took the funicular up to the Totem Heritage Center. The center contains the largest collection of original 19th century totem poles in existence.Sep 18, 2010
ALA042 001.jpg
Even though it was the end of the season, there were still plenty of salmon working their way up the river. It was so fascinating to actually see them.Sep 18, 2010
ALA041 001.jpg
Having a great time.Sep 18, 2010
ALA040 001.jpg
This place is so much fun. Everything is set up like it used to be during the mining time.Sep 18, 2010
ALA039 001.jpg
We have arrived at Ketchikan, known as Alaska's "First City" because it's the first major community travelers come to as they journey north. It is located on an island, and began as an Indian fishing camp.Sep 18, 2010
ALA038 001.jpg
Wow...was it ever windy. I had been up there where this guy is standing, and I kept being blown over, so I got off of that deck! FAST!Sep 18, 2010
ALA037 001.jpg
We had several opportunities to see ice calving, which is when a large chunk of ice breaks away from a glacier.Sep 18, 2010
ALA036 001.jpg
As well as eagles, we saw seals just relaxing on the larger shelves of ice. They didn't seem worried by the ship. I guess they are used to it.Sep 18, 2010
ALA033 001.jpg
This is the sister ship of the Diamond Princess, the ship I am on. It was fun passing her. Both ships were blasting their horns at each other.Sep 18, 2010
ALA035 001.jpg
I felt it getting colder. I looked out from the cabin balcony and saw that we were in the glacial fjord. Now we are finally seeing ice.Sep 18, 2010
ALA032 001.jpg
It was another beautiful evening as we sailed toward Tracy Arm.Sep 18, 2010
ALA031 001.jpg
We went past some beautiful scenery as we left Skagway and headed for Tracy Arm. I can't imagine living here in the winter, but I understand they do. Hardy people!Sep 18, 2010
ALA030 001.jpg
While many of the tourists took the train ride, I just wondered around the town. This place really looks like an old mining town. Of course, where there is a bear, I have to have a photo. = )Sep 18, 2010
ALA027 002.jpg
The next morning we arrived in Skagway, known as the Gateway to the Klondike. It is a popular stop for cruise ships. The narrow gauge railway is part of the mining's past, but now is just for the tourists.Sep 18, 2010
ALA028 001.jpg
I am an avid fan of the TV show Deadliest Catch, so when I saw this pile of crab pots, I was so excited. There was one sitting on the ground, and I tried picking it up. I wanted to get a feel for how heavy they are. THEY'RE HEAVY! It made me appreciate even more how hard their job is. I miss Phil Harris. It just won't be the same without him on the show.Sep 18, 2010
ALA027 001.jpg
Same time, just another view .Sep 18, 2010
ALA026 001.jpg
As we made our way to Skagway, the sun came out, and I was able to get this pretty picture.Sep 18, 2010
ALA025 001.jpg
Returning back to the ship after a great day of sightseeing and shopping.Sep 18, 2010
ALA024 001.jpg
This guy wasn't "Ragtime Hattie," but he could play a mean piano.Sep 18, 2010
ALA023 001.jpg
Founded during Juneau's mining era, the saloon has been in operation for decades. For a time, "Ragtime Hattie" played the piano in white gloves and a silver dollar halter top. It was such a fun place to visit.Sep 18, 2010
ALA022 001.jpg
My next stop was the Red Dog Saloon. It was recognized by the Alaska Legislature for it's longevity as the oldest man-made tourist attraction in Juneau. A fun thing to see was Wyatt Earp's gun that he checked but never claimed on his way to Nome. You wouldn't think that he would forget something like that!Sep 18, 2010
ALA021 001.jpg
This is the only kind of Alaskan bear I wanted to see. Stuffed!Sep 18, 2010
ALA020 001.jpg
Here is the main street of Juneau. From the crowds along the street, the rain didn't seem to be bothering anyone.Sep 18, 2010
ALA019 001.jpg
Here we are approaching Juneau. The captain has just said it is 52 degrees, cloudy with rain.Sep 18, 2010
ALA018 001.jpg
As we were going along the channel, we could see so many of these beautiful waterfalls.Sep 18, 2010
ALA017 001.jpg
We are heading into the strait of Juan de Fuca. Most of the people watched from the windows, but not me. Like I said, I love this kind of weather. It's so invigorating.Sep 18, 2010
ALA016 001.jpg
Now the wind is really whipping up, and it's raining hard!Sep 18, 2010
ALA015 001.jpg
By the time I got out to the pool deck, the water was really starting to splash out of the pool.Sep 18, 2010
ALA014 001.jpg
I took this photo from my cabin's balcony, and you can see that it is beginning to get just a little rough.Sep 18, 2010
ALA013 001.jpg
This is the buffet, and I spent a lot of time here!Sep 18, 2010
ALA012 001.jpg

This area around the Space Needle is a park. It's like a mini fair. Lots of rides, cotton candy, and video games.Sep 18, 2010
ALA004 001.jpg
Looking the other direction you can see downtown, and Quest Field, home of the Seattle Seahawk. I was fortunate that I had such a clear day when I was there.Sep 18, 2010
ALA003 001.jpg
From my hotel, I was able to get this picture of the harbor.Sep 18, 2010

MAL067 001.jpg
These are Payong Berwarna umbrellas used in the Sultan's coronation.Sep 16, 2010
MAL066 001.jpg
The royal crowns with the gleaming jewels just sparkled with the museum lights. There was a duplicate of the throne of the sultan used during state occasions and his coronation ceremonies. It was amazing. This is the display with ceremonial armor made of silver and gold.Sep 16, 2010
MAL065 001.jpg
One of my favorite items on display would be the grand royal chariot in the center of the museum. It was barricaded off from the public, but I was able to get it in the background of this photo. It was incredible.Sep 16, 2010
MAL064 001.jpg
They were so cute that I had to get a close-up.Sep 16, 2010

MAL062 001.jpg
And here are our shoes! Can you spot mine?Sep 16, 2010
MAL061 001.jpg
The first thing you notice when you enter is the sign that tells you that no shoes are allowed.Sep 16, 2010
MAL060 001.jpg

It isn't hard to tell we have left the Sultan's grounds. It also doesn't matter where you travel, you will always see a Coke sign.Sep 16, 2010
