30 viewsA view from the top. Along the red tiled building were tons of souvenir shops with lots of fun stuff to buy.
30 viewsIt was even creepier going down the steps. You can really notice the lean of the tower.

30 viewsThese are the first cormorants I've seen. Their necks are leashed, and they wait on the raft until it's their time to go fishing. When they have caught the fish, they jump back on the raft and give the fish to the fisherman. Because their necks are leashed, they can't swallow the fish.

29 viewsWe are passing Cape Horn. The water here is known to be very hazardous and rough. (A lot of the passengers got sick while going through this section.) From the 1700's to the early 1900's, Cape Horn was a part of the clipper ship trade routes which carried a lot of the world's trade. I don't think I would have wanted to be on one of those ships!

29 viewsCharles Dickens visited the Colosseum. In 1846, after his visit, he wrote the following: "It is the most impressive, the most stately, the most solemn, grand, majestic, mournful sight conceivable. Never in it's bloodiest prime can the sight of the gigantic Colosseum, full and running over with the lustiest life, have moved one heart, as it must move all who look upon it now, a ruin. God be thankful: a ruin!"

28 views"Somebody help me.......I can't hold this up much longer!" If you notice, I used the past tense when telling about Ein Gedi. In the summer of 2005, two-thirds of the oasis burned to the ground after a tourist dropped a lit cigarette. This makes these photos all the more special to me.

27 viewsThe City of Jericho ... And on the 7th day of walking around the city, they blew the trumpets, and sure enough...the walls fell down.
27 viewsI always heard about the Israelites blowing the trumpets and having the walls fall down on the seventh day, but I will also remember it now for the absolutely delicious fruit. I know, not quite a good comparison, but I'm just sayin'................that fruit was soooo good. Better than Florida!

27 viewsAnd......the Queen's guard from the back! It was my dad that taught me to take photos of the back of people, too. Sometimes they are just as interesting, if not more interesting, than the front. Case in point, not until I saw this photo, did I realize they had "horseshoes" on their feet. No wonder the sound was so loud.

26 viewsThe Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty. For almost 500 years it served as the home of emperors and their households. These are the gates to enter the city.
26 viewsAll the roofs were beautifully decorated. The unicorn on the top was to keep evil spirits away, and guard the entrance to the Emperor's Garden.
26 viewsThis is the plane I will soon be boarding.

26 viewsThis is the famous part of the Falls called Devil's Throat, and is best seen from the Brazilian side. It is U-shaped and is considered the most impressive of all the 275 falls.
26 viewsHelp! Somebody get these things off of me.
26 viewsI got this shot showing the Iguazu River. You can see by this photo that the falls were in the tropical jungle.

26 viewsAh, I found the sign pointing the way to the Blarney Castle. (It looks like I needed to be pointed to the restroom.) :O)
26 viewsMade it! Whew.....that was a pretty exhausting walk up those tiny stairs.
26 viewsThis really shows the green of Ireland.
26 viewsAfter a night of rest, we headed to the Old City.
26 viewsA little pose before we enter the Old City.
26 viewsI wrote out my prayer on a piece of paper and put it in the wall.
26 viewsAn archeological dig going on.
26 viewsAnother photo showing the skyline of Jerusalem, but this time I got the young boy heading home with his camel.
26 viewsI took a chance that they would let me have a photo taken with them. They did!
26 viewsOne of our next stops was the Valley of Elah. It is best known as the place where the Israelites were encamped when David fought Goliath. This is my daughter picking up some of the stones for souvenirs.
26 viewsNow we are in the Negev Bedouin area. They are defined as Arab nomads who live by rearing livestock in the deserts of southern Israel.
26 viewsMama and baby.......so cute.
26 viewsAre you SURE I can let go and the water will hold me up?
26 viewsHey....thanks for posing.
26 viewsAfter we left the Church of the Nativity, we went to the Three Arches of Bethlehem, a great place to shop. We were offered a cup of "coffee." By the smell, I could tell it wasn't going to be a good cup of Folgers!
26 viewsI wasn't going to drink it but the guy told me to "just try a little."
26 viewsI was watching this beautiful white dove fly over everyone. It seemed so appropriate.
26 viewsJesus was lowered through this hole, into a cave, to await His trial. It felt sad in there.
26 viewsThis was taken inside the tomb looking out into the garden.
26 viewsThese are the original stones along the Via Dolorosa.
26 viewsErica is trying out the sling shot that was like the one David used against Goliath.
26 viewsThis lady allowed us to visit inside her home..............for $1.00. :O)
26 viewsDid a little shopping and then had a really great lunch.
26 viewsNot only can you eat it, you can wear it.
26 viewsThis is Erica taking her first camel ride.
26 viewsSo while we shopped and rode camels, our bus driver slept.
26 viewsWe have come to the Kibbutz Nof Ginasor, where we will stay for several days. It's located on the Galilee shore. One of the first things we did was take this "Jesus" fishing boat for a ride along the Sea of Galilee.
26 viewsI couldn't help but stop and get a photo with all the beautiful flowers around.
26 viewsOur next visit is Banias, a beautiful nature reserve. It was also the former site of Caesarea Philippi located at the foot of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights
26 viewsHUH!
26 viewsHere is a piece of trivia for you. In the movie Ocean's 12, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is mentioned in connection with their scheme to tilt a building in order to gain access to it.
26 viewsThis is the original facade, which I find unbelievable since construction began around 70-72 A.D. It opened in 80 A.D. Today it remains as standing proof of both the grandeur and the cruelty of the Roman world.
26 viewsThe Colosseum was ruined because of devastating earthquakes and stone-robbers who wanted the stones for building materials.
26 viewsThis is my "I went to the Colosseum" photo.
26 viewsI took the tour that takes you underneath the Colosseum where you could see many of the tunnels. That's where they kept the slaves and animals used for the gladiatorial games. The arena had a wood floor covered with sand. Not only was the sand there to hide the trapdoors, but also for catching the blood. The slaves and animals were let up through the hidden trap doors under the sand which provided continual surprises for the spectators and the contestants! Whoa.........SURPRISE!
26 viewsOf course, we had to have a group photo.
26 viewsThis is the large public square outside St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. They call it St. Peter's Square, but it is actually round, with the perimeter marked by two huge colonnades.
26 viewsThe day I was there they were putting out the chairs for members of the Vatican. The Pope would later come out and address the massive crowd. Believe you me, it really WAS massive.
26 viewsThese are the apartments for the Pope's staff.
26 viewsThere are 24 bridges that span the River Thames, but I think this is one was my favorite. It is the Tower Bridge, a beautiful suspension bridge that is confused a lot with the London Bridge. It is close to the Tower of London.
26 viewsThe Queen's guard up close.
26 viewsThis was one of my favorite shots.
26 viewsNext to the stairs was a view of the Golden Dome with a minaret next to it.
26 viewsWhoa! He was right. That was quite a tilt the ship made. Out of all the passengers, there were about 20 of us brave souls that spent several hours up on that deck. I actually thought it was fun.
26 viewsI'm thinking this guy wished he was still in bed!

26 viewsThis cute picture was taken as we were walking along the Rue Boissy D'Anglas. It wasn't hard to get him to take a picture with Erica.
26 viewsWe arrive in the town called Wadi Musa. Bedouins have stands everywhere with lots of handicrafts. The most popular seems to be the bottles of colored sand. I got one! Since no motorized vehicles are allowed to enter the site, you have to choose. Do I go in by go horse, donkey, carriage or do I want to walk!
26 viewsAs I made my way back up the trail, I was overwhelmed with what I had seen this day. Awe-inspiring, incredible, amazing, unbelievable, are only a few of the words that could possibly describe this experience.
26 viewsIt's almost dark as we returned back into Israel.
26 viewsI'm smiling but it is sooooo hot and humid!
26 viewsPushing off to go to the market.
26 viewsWe stopped at a school and some of the children practiced their English with us.
25 viewsFounded during Juneau's mining era, the saloon has been in operation for decades. For a time, "Ragtime Hattie" played the piano in white gloves and a silver dollar halter top. It was such a fun place to visit.
25 viewsDude, didn't your mother ever teach you not to play in the guano!
25 viewsMaaaaa........where are you!
25 viewsI'm over here!

25 viewsThe Chinstrap penguins are around 27 inches tall and weigh about 9 pounds. The leopard seals like to prey on the adult penguins, whereas the chicks and the eggs are eaten by the brown skuas, which are related to the gull family.
25 viewsBefore we could get in the zodiac, we had to wade in the water and try to get the guano off. Once we were on the ship, we had to sit down so they could took our boots off. They then put them in a bag, and we walked back to our cabin in our sockies. We got the boots back later, all nice and clean.
25 viewsSome fur seals. Wow! What a difference seeing them up close and personal and not from the ship.
25 viewsBuses were also used a lot by the local people.

25 viewsBangkok is criss-crossed with klongs, or canals, that are major commercial waterways for the city.
25 viewsYou can see the Grand Palace in the background.
25 viewsThis is the Khmer-inspired tower named "Temple of Dawn." It is one of the best known landmarks and one of the most published images of Bangkok.
25 viewsI just loved the hats they wore.
25 viewsI think this was my favorite one.
25 viewsI even got to get into one of the big helicopters. That was awesome!
25 viewsNext he took me to the farm where they raise all kinds of crops and animals.....even guinea pigs.
25 viewsShe was such a sweetie. She walked right up and sat on my lap.
25 viewsSo many of the people wore blankets instead of heavy coats. That seemed to be the Bolivian way.
25 viewsI tried over and over, however, as you can see by their faces, I just couldn't get the hang of it. It was fun trying.
25 viewsA few streets over, it was a bit more active.
25 viewsThis little guy was crying. I don't know if he missed his mommy, or if all of these strange people were scaring him.

25 viewsThis is a typical French scene with people sitting out in the open having a baguette and coffee.
25 viewsThis is the man who lived in this house.
25 viewsHis close-up shot! When I look at this picture, I think of the song, "Red and Yellow, Black and White." He definitely looked yellow!
25 viewsThere were a lot of little kids visiting here, too.
25 viewsBut I also turned around to take a picture of how far I had come.
25 viewsWhen he saw I was taking photographs, he stopped and posed for me. Cute!
