We went past some beautiful scenery as we left Skagway and headed for Tracy Arm. I can't imagine living here in the winter, but I understand they do. Hardy people!

This is the marble boat that was first built in 1755 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. It was supposed to be a symbol of stability of the Qing Dynasty. There is a big mirror on each deck, and it is said that the emperor's mother often enjoyed the scenery while she had her breakfast and dinner in front of the mirror.

Ahhhh...then there was the bathroom. The window opened onto the most beautiful scenery. The air was so crisp and clean. I wanted to break out in song, "The hills are alive......"

So often through the years I would see these beautiful Chinese paintings with these pointy hills on them. I wondered if they were real. They are. We are now heading to Guilin where I got to see this magnificent and stunning scenery!
